Basement Jaxx <3

Now I’ve chosen the band I’m doing. Its time to break the mold from their crazy cut/paste style and use a single photographic outcome.

More inspiration to come!!

Experiment 1.

My idea was to have a mass of colourful sweats just blasting out from a blender going absolutely everywhere.

It SORT of worked, but would it be stupidly hard to capture that 1 millisecond moment that will make the sure. is it too much effort? think of all the sweets. tidying up.

Wonder what to do? I’ll keep the idea to a side and try think of more ideas!

Short talk from Don Norman on TED who speaks to us about the asthetics of design being more important than function in some cases. I personally agree with this completely as I design to create something beautiful rather than for a purpose or function. So moulding my interest of designing for design sake has to now be twisted a little to fit my university course which is all solution based design scenarios. Wonder how I’ll do eh!

Design is the visualation of an idea or message, good design is doing it right.

Design Issues Lecture

Today had design lecture from Hillary Carlisle which wasnt the most awe inspirng. Amongst a slip of the tounges from her, including the erm. incorrectly stated meaning of WWF very slightly asked us some questions which we later discussed in a smaller seminar.

  • Does design need defining?
  • Does design matter?
  • What is good design?

So this was what we were asked to think about. Personally in a short analysis of my opinion. No, design doesnt need to be defined, as long as people are doing what they consider as design what is the problem with it? Okay peoples opinions and styles/fads will change with time but oh well. Why be restricted to a definition when you can have the would world to describe it.

Does design matter? of course it does. Maybe not as much to certain individuals, maybe less acedemic or analytical people who only care about function. But if it matters to someone then more than likely it will matter to a lot more people.

What is good design? Well. If it works, and it works WELL. Then surely that was designed correctly.

So throw me your thoughts to these questions if your interested in spreading your opinions :)
